MILITARY FAMILIES AGAINST THE WAR DELIVER PETITION TO GORDON BROWN

After months of campaigning, the Stop the War Petition 'Afghanistan: BRING THE TROOPS HOME' was finally delivered to Gordon Brown on 21st Dec 2009.
Chesterfield STW ran a very successful campaign, gathering around 3000 signatures and highlighting the death toll of British service personnel and Afghan civilians by displaying over 100 pennants carrying photos of those killed.
Local people were invited to write messages either to the families of those killed or to Gordon Brown and these were displayed on the pennants.
The anger and anguish felt about the war soon became apparent and the messages reflect this in a very powerful way.
The pennants were briefly displayed around the christmas tree outside the Tourist Info. Centre. A record of the messages will be kept and copies sent to Gordon Brown and Military Families Against the War.
Chris from Chesterfield STW travelled to London to join other members from MFAW and ex-service personnel to deliver the petition. The video of the press conference can be viewed on the MFAW website ( direct link in info bar below)
